“The Notebook” Cosplay

I really love The Notebook by Nickolas Sparks! I’ve watch the movies too many times to count and read the book. So, when my boyfriend, Steven, and I visited Charleston (the city where many of the scenes in the movie where filmed) well, we had to dress accordingly. He dressed up like Noah. I dressed up like Allie. Then we roamed around Charleston for one of the most romantic dates we’ve ever had.

I was going to make a dress with aCharleston 8 vintage pattern from simplicity, but I ran out of time before the trip. So my mom actually round this blue dress at Alter’d State (one of my favorite stores). It’s almost the same blue as Allie’s dress. I then decided to do a modern retro theme to this cosplay. I added pearls, my lace sweater, and my lace shoes. When you pair all this with a 1940’s hair do, and vintage red lipstick from Besame Cosmetic, voila! You have a very modern retro look, perfect for a night out in Charleston.

In the middle of the battery park, there was this giant gazebo, surrounded by old trees draped in Spanish moss, and lit by cast iron street lamps. Steven pulled out his phone, turned on some jazz, and we danced.

We visited several locations where filming of the movie took place. My favorite was Boone Hall Plantation which was Allie’s summer home in the movie.

I’ll end with my favorite quote from The Notebook:

“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday.”
